Building an email list is one of the oldest methods of connecting with your clients, but it is still very relevant and in practice. Email lists give you some much-needed flexibility when it comes to relating with users.
A lot of business/client interactions is hinged on this. Webinars, newsletters and the likes all get passed across with emailing. These also have a direct impact on your traffic.
There are a lot of free services that offer efficient email list building services. MailChimp is one such and is a personal favorite with nice features welcome emails, A.B split testing, click tracking and the likes.
Connect Your WordPress Site With Mailchimp
To Connect your WordPress site with MailChimp, you need to create an account with MailChimp and create a new mailing list by clicking on the “Create List” button on the dashboard.
After that is done, here is a method to connect your WordPress site with MailChimp using the “Easy Forms for MailChimp” WordPress Plugin
This is perhaps the easiest and most flexible way of connecting your WordPress with MailChimp. First, navigate to “Plugins -> Add New” in your WordPress dashboard.
Next search for the plugging ” Easy Forms for MailChimp ” and click install.
Once the install is done, click on activate. On your dashboard navigate “easy forms” > “settings” and under the general settings, click on the link “Get your API key here.”
Following the link takes you to a MailChimp page. Scroll down till you can see “Your API Keys” section. Here, copy the API key. If there is no active API key, then click on the “Create a Key” button, and a fresh API key will be created for you.
Return to your WordPress, paste the key you had just copied and click on save changes.
If this process was well done, WordPress should display a “Settings successfully updated message“.
The next process will be to create a sign in form. This is done by navigating in your dashboard “Easy forms” > “Opt-in forms“. On the page that opens all your current signups forms will be listed if you have any.
You can create a new signup form by clicking on the “Create” button.
While filling the above form, select the list you had already created on your MailChimp account in the “Associated List” drop-down list.
In the new for that appears, Under the “Form Fields” and “Interest Groups” section, select the email field and click on the “Add to Form Builder” button.
Once this is done, click on the update form button.
All that is left will be to insert this newly created form on the page it is needed. To do this, just copy the shortcode as seen below and paste it in the post you need it to be.
