How to Remove Product Key from Registry in Windows 10
If you are looking for Sell or dispose of your Windows 10 PC, it’s always recommended to backup all of your data including your installed windows 10 product key. Your product key depends on the type of Windows version you bought: If you bought Windows from an authorized retailer, the product key will only show as the Installed key. This applies to OEM System Builder keys as well. If you upgraded Windows, the Original key will be the key installed prior to the upgrade. NB if you upgrade to Windows 10 for free, you’ll receive a unique ‘digital entitlement’ instead of a product key.
Windows stores the product key inside its registry. This product key is not visible from any Windows settings but can be retrieved using third party application ShowKeyPlus.
With ShowKeyPlus ( Download Now) View the product key of your OS by using this portable and user-friendly application that also allows you to save the data to TXT.
Step-by-Step Process to Remove Windows 10 Product Key from Registry:-
Step1:- First Take the backup of your Windows 10 product key with ShowKeyPlus. Open ShowkeyPlus with Run as administrator and click on the “Save” option to save your key.
Tip:- Save your Windows 10 Product key file in your USB instead of saving on the same PC.
Step2:- Open command prompt with administrative privileges by Right-click on the Start menu and select “Command Prompt (admin)”
Step3:- Issue the following command:
this small command “Remove Windows 10 product key from Registry”
it will prompt you with “Product key from registry cleared successfully“.
if you again check with ShowPlus Key tool, it will not show you your Windows 10 installed product key.
