Gestures have become an integral part of our lives, whether itâs our smartphone gestures or our laptop ones. But sometimes because of wrongful setting twitches, it may not work.
One such gesture in your laptop is the two-finger scroll. If used correctly, can save you time. But sometimes it doesnât work, So, in this article, we are going to find fixes for the âtwo finger scroll not workingâ issue.
What is a two-finger scroll gesture?
Two-finger scroll allows you to slide up on your touchpad using two fingers in order to scroll upwards on a given page. This feature is perfectly integrated into all the laptops and works quite well, but sometimes because of the problems that we are going to talk about later this gesture may not work.
But fortunately, the issues are minor and can be fixed by going through the methods prescribed in this article. So, letâs fix them.
4 Fixes for Two Finger Scroll Not Working
The following are the solutions for the âtwo finger scroll not workingâ problem. Obviously, you donât need to apply all just start from the top as we have chronologically mentioned the fixes.
1. Make sure that the two-finger gesture is enabled
In most laptops, a two-finger gesture is enabled by default, but as we have mentioned earlier, because of wrongful setting twitching it gets disabled. Therefore, before moving any further we should see if the two-finger gesture is enabled or not.
To do that, you need to follow the prescribed steps:-
Step 1: Launch Settings by either searching it out of the start menu or by right-clicking on the start menu and then select Settings from the appeared list.
Step 2: From the appeared settings window, click on the Devices option.
Step 3: Then from the list placed at the left side of the screen, select the Touchpad option, and then from the appeared window on the right side enable the Drag two fingers to scroll option.
Hopefully, this will solve the âtwo finger scroll not workingâ issue. But if you donât have that option there on the Touchpad tab then you need to read the following steps:-
Step 4: Click on Additional Settings under Related Settings.
Step 5: This will redirect you to the Mouse Properties window, there you need to go to the ELAN tab(it may differ if you have a different touchpad) and then click on the options button.
Step 6: You will be redirected to your touchpad properties, there you need to go to the multi-finger tab> Scrolling and then enable it by ticking the horizontal and vertical options and confirming it by click on Apply and OK.
In both the methods you need to restart your computer as it will get things right.
Hopefully, this will solve the âtwo finger scroll not workingâ issue.

Your drivers can have multiple problems, they can be outdated, they can have bugs, they were updated wrongly, but fortunately, we have a fix for every mentioned problem
Update the Pointing driver:-
Even though Microsoft tends to update all the drivers automatically and the pointing driver is not an exception, but sometimes you gotta do it manually. In this section, we are going to update the Pointer Driver manually. To do that you need to follow the prescribed steps:-
Step 1: Launch the Device Manager by either Win + X> Device Manager> enter or Win + R> devmgmt.msc> enter.
Step 2: This will redirect you to Device Manager, you need to reach the âMice and other pointing devicesâ, expand the option, right-click on the pointing devices(in my case it is ELAN pointing devices), and then select âupdate driverâ from the appeared list.
Step 3: From the appeared screen you can select any of the two available options but according to us you should select âSearch Automatically for updated driverâ.
This way you will be able to update the pointing driver. After this, you need to restart your computer and hopefully, the two-finger scroll not working is fixed.
Rollback the Pointing Driver:-
